I'm writing a proposal in my MBA program for establishing a non-profit organization that would promote transcultural education. Because this field is so new, I don't think there are any hard numbers on transcultural education in the U.S. But I wante…

I just found that Heidelberg University in Germany has a Karl Jaspers Center for Advanced Transcultural Studies. They offer a PhD in this field. Not surprised to see that Europe is leading the way on this concept.

What is Transcultural Education?

Transcultural education is an approach to teaching and learning that is dialogic and interdisciplinary in nature. Rather than learn about other cultures from a distance, a transcultural approach moves students and teachers toward learning with others, by engaging with a culture's members and its perspectives through activities that require intersubjectivity and reflexivity.

This social networking site is designed with two goals in mind. The first is to promote and offer demonstrations of teaching and learning that are transcultural and interdisciplinary in their approach. Second, the site is designed as a virtual meeting space for secondary and post-secondary educators interested in meeting and collaborating with each other through dialogue and exchange.

Transculturalism is a relatively new approach that is being applied across a number of fields, including education, nursing, and business. The following links offer a glimpse of its theoretical basis and current applications:
